What we make
Custom A-boards, sandwich boards and A-frame advertising signs
An A-board is the cheapest advertising board you will ever buy and the only one that stands exactly where your customers already are. Also called a sandwich board, an A-board sign or an A-frame sign, they put one message at eye level on the pavement — and unlike anything digital, nobody can scroll past it.
Every A-board we have for sale is made to order in our own workshop in Alfreton: your artwork or ours, snap-frame or chalkboard, aluminium or wooden, and built to cope with a wet Tuesday in February rather than a photograph.
Snap-frame A-boards
The standard. Aluminium frame with a hinged edge that snaps open, so you can swap the poster in about ten seconds without tools. The right call if the message changes weekly.

Write it yourself, rub it off, write it again. Cafés and pubs live on these — today’s special, in your own handwriting, which reads as human in a way a printed panel never does.
Get a priceWooden A-boards
Wooden A-board printing for anywhere a silver frame would look wrong — farm shops, delis, wedding venues, pubs. Heavier, which on an exposed pavement is a feature rather than a fault.
Get a pricePrinted panel boards
Solid panel with printed vinyl bonded straight to it. No frame edge, no insert to lose, nothing to swap — the toughest option and the one to pick if the message is not changing.
Get a priceSpare inserts & replacement posters
A-frame insert printing on its own — you have got the board, you just need new panels. Waterproof, anti-glare and tear-resistant stock, cut to your existing frame. Order a spare set while you are at it.
Get a priceWeighted bases & extras
Weighted bases for windy corners, anti-theft chain points for boards that live outside overnight, and spare posters so a torn panel is a five-minute problem rather than a reprint.

The wind is the thing that kills A-boards
Nearly every A-board that fails does it the same way: it goes over in a gust, the frame twists, and the poster is a write-off by Thursday. Weight and where you stand it matter more than anything printed on it. We will tell you honestly which frame suits your spot rather than selling you the light one.
- Weighted bases on anything going somewhere exposed. A light board on a windy corner is a false economy and a liability.
- Wooden frames are heavier and sit better in a gust — and they look right outside a deli or a pub in a way aluminium does not.
- Waterproof, anti-glare, tear-resistant poster stock as standard. Anti-glare matters more than people expect: a glossy panel in low sun is unreadable.
- Anti-theft chain points if the board stays out overnight.
- Double-sided as standard — people walk past in both directions and a blank back is half an advert.
A wooden frame outside a restaurant — heavier, steadier in a gust, and it suits a frontage that a silver snap-frame would fight with.
Sizes
What size is a sandwich board?
The standard sandwich board size in the UK is A1 — it is what most people picture, and it is the one that reads from across a road without dominating a narrow pavement. A2 is the typical size for a tight shopfront or a doorway. A0 exists and it is enormous; it belongs at an event, not on a high street.
- Not sure? Send a photo of the spot and we will tell you which fits
- Custom sizes cut to order — including inserts for a frame you already own
- Measure the frame’s internal opening, not the outside, if you are ordering inserts
Those are the poster sizes — the frame itself is a little larger. If you are replacing an insert, measure the visible window rather than the board.
Where they earn their keep
One offer, one action, at eye level
An A-board has about two seconds and roughly six words. The businesses that get the most out of them treat the board as one message that changes often, not a permanent menu of everything they do.
Lead with the offer in large high-contrast text, keep it to one action, use a legible font rather than a thin one, and leave space round the edges so it reads at a glance. A QR code to a menu, a booking page or your reviews costs nothing and works. If you have not got artwork we will design it to match your brand colours — and to match any vehicle graphics you already run.
Shops & salons
Today’s offer, new season lines, walk-in availability. Pairs with window graphics carrying the same message.
